van Groningen, Stefan

Stefan van Groningen (1851–1926) was a Dutch pianist, composer, and music educator.
After studying chemistry, he abandoned his technical career to pursue music, studying with Franz Liszt, Oscar Raif, and Friedrich Kiel.
From 1892 he served as director and piano teacher at the Leiden music school and toured major European cities.
He composed two piano concertos, performing his Second Piano Concerto several times with the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
In 1894, he also published a treatise on piano technique.
